Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. As a child, she went to the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma decided to be an actor by the age of six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing as well as dancing, and also acting. At the age of ten the actress took part in and performed the main role in numerous Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The movie broke all records for its opening and weekend ticket revenues, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Film critics praised the film as well as its performances by the three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma's performance was recognized and won five awards later for the film.
